MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA is the sixth mini album by global K pop group BTS, released on April 12, 2019 through Big Hit Entertainment as the opening chapter of the Map of the Soul series. Inspired by psychological themes and the concept of identity, the album explores the idea of the “persona” and the different faces people show to the world. The era was promoted with the lead single Boy With Luv, a collaboration with American singer Halsey that introduced a bright and energetic concept reflecting the excitement of love and self discovery.

The album blends hip hop, pop, funk, and R&B influences that highlight BTS’s versatility as performers and storytellers. Led by Boy With Luv, the project also includes standout tracks such as Intro: Persona, Mikrokosmos, and HOME, combining upbeat anthems with reflective songs that explore themes of identity, dreams, and personal growth. Across its seven tracks, the release showcases the group’s polished production and evolving musical style while continuing the deeper narrative concepts that define BTS’s discography.

MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA achieved major commercial success worldwide and became one of BTS’s most impactful releases. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 with about 230,000 equivalent album units in its first week, marking the group’s third number one album in the United States. It also broke records in South Korea with over two million copies sold shortly after release and later surpassed four million global sales, further solidifying BTS’s global influence and the continued growth of their fanbase, ARMY.
