8TURN - UNCHARTED DRIFT - POCA ALBUM Version

UNCHARTED DRIFT is the second mini album by South Korean boy group 8TURN, released on June 26, 2023 through MNH Entertainment. Following their January debut with 8TURNRISE, the five-track release explores the unpredictable adventures of eight boys breaking away from routine and finding their own direction. The album continues 8TURN's youthful and self-assured identity while presenting a more developed sound for the group.

The UNCHARTED DRIFT tracklist opens with “WORLD,” a song featuring member Yungyu's lyrical participation and a distinctive low-tone narration from Jaeyun. Title track “EXCEL” combines old-school hip-hop with hard rock guitar, creating an aggressive, high-energy sound that reflects the group's determination to choose their own path. “WALK IT OUT” balances rap and vocals while highlighting the members' individual vocal colors, whereas “SKETCH” shifts into a brighter first-love song with a bubbly, melodic feel. Closing track “ING” is dedicated to 8TURN's fans, TURNING, giving the project a more personal conclusion.

UNCHARTED DRIFT strengthened 8TURN's early identity as an energetic fifth-generation K-pop group, with the members presenting a more confident performance style and their message of independence. For TURNING, the mini album offers a snapshot of 8TURN's early musical development, combining powerful hip-hop influences, expressive vocals, youthful themes, and performance-focused production across its five-song tracklist.
