BOYNEXTDOOR released their first EP WHY.. on September 4, 2023 through KOZ Entertainment with distribution by YG PLUS. Serving as the second installment of the group's First Love trilogy, the album follows their debut single album WHO! and explores the emotions that arise after a first heartbreak. Through relatable storytelling and honest lyrics, WHY.. captures the confusion, sadness, and self reflection that come with the end of a relationship while further establishing BOYNEXTDOOR's authentic musical identity.

WHY.. blends pop, pop rock, hip hop, and alternative influences with expressive vocals, conversational songwriting, and vibrant production. Led by the title track "But Sometimes," the EP explores themes of heartbreak, longing, frustration, and acceptance through a balance of emotional ballads and energetic tracks. Members Jaehyun, Taesan, and Woonhak once again participated in the songwriting and composition, highlighting BOYNEXTDOOR's creative involvement and commitment to telling genuine stories through their music.
