CHUU - HOWL

Howl is CHUU’s first mini album and her official solo debut, released on October 18, 2023 through ATRP. Following her time as a member of LOONA, the five-track release introduces CHUU as a solo artist with a more personal musical identity, built around her distinctive and expressive vocals. The album tells the story of two wounded people who become small heroes for each other, creating their own little world where they can heal together. 

The title track Howl combines an emotional atmosphere with a polished pop sound, expressing the desire to protect someone while revealing one’s own vulnerability. Underwater takes a smoother, more dreamy direction and highlights CHUU’s softer vocal color, while My Palace feels brighter and more playful. Aliens and Hitchhiker add further variety to the release, with the latter bringing a more rhythmic and energetic finish. Rather than simply presenting a cheerful image, Howl balances CHUU’s familiar warmth with a more mature and introspective side.

Howl marked an important new beginning for CHUU as her first solo mini album after LOONA and established the foundation for her subsequent releases Strawberry Rush and Only Cry in the Rain. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Circle Album Chart and recorded nearly 50,000 copies in South Korea, making it a strong start to her solo career.
