(G)I-DLE - I LOVE jewelcase

I love is the fifth Korean mini album by South Korean girl group (G)I-DLE, released on October 17, 2022 through CUBE Entertainment. Following the success of their first full-length album I NEVER DIE and the hit single “TOMBOY,” the album presents a concept centered on showing one's genuine self instead of becoming the person others expect. Inspired by vintage Hollywood imagery, I love explores different forms of love while ultimately leading to self-love and embracing one's true identity.

The six-track album is led by “Nxde,” an alternative pop track that incorporates jazz and classical elements, including a motif from the famous “Habanera” from Carmen. Its provocative concept challenges the way women are judged and objectified, while encouraging listeners to see the person behind the image. “LOVE” turns toward self-love after a breakup with a playful, confident attitude, while “Change” explores the feeling of having everything yet still questioning what is needed for happiness. “Reset,” “Sculpture,” and “DARK (X-file)” continue the album's exploration of different forms of love, vulnerability, and emotional complexity.

I love further established (G)I-DLE's reputation for self-produced music, with Soyeon taking a major creative role across the album while Minnie and Yuqi also contributed to the songwriting and composition. Coming after the success of I NEVER DIE and the group's first world tour, the mini album marked another important chapter in their career and became a defining release for Neverland. With its bold concept, diverse production, and message of embracing one's authentic self, I love remains one of (G)I-DLE's most distinctive releases.
