(G)I-DLE - I NEVER DIE

I NEVER DIE is the first full-length album by South Korean girl group (G)I-DLE, released on March 14, 2022 through CUBE Entertainment. Following the emotional winter concept of I burn, the album marked a bold new chapter for the group, built around themes of self-confidence, independence, and refusing to be defined by other people's expectations. I NEVER DIE was also the group's first release as a five-member group, with Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua continuing the group's distinctive creative identity.

The eight-track album opens with title track “TOMBOY,” an alternative rock and pop-punk song driven by guitar riffs and heavy drums, presenting a defiant message about rejecting the expectations placed on women. “Never Stop Me” continues the rock influence with a nostalgic 2000s-inspired sound, while “VILLAIN DIES” takes a darker direction through electro-pop, hip-hop, and rock elements. “ALREADY” and “POLAROID” offer softer moments focused on heartbreak, healing, and memories, while “ESCAPE” provides a comforting message for those feeling overwhelmed. The album closes with the confident hip-hop track “MY BAG,” which gives each member an opportunity to showcase their rap skills.

I NEVER DIE became an important release in (G)I-DLE's discography, showcasing the group's ability to combine different genres while maintaining their strong sense of identity. With Soyeon, Minnie, and Yuqi contributing significantly to the songwriting and production, the album reflects the members' growing creative involvement and reinforces the group's reputation for self-produced music. For Neverland, I NEVER DIE remains a defining album that captures (G)I-DLE's confidence, individuality, and willingness to break away from expectations.
