JEON SO YEON - WINDY

Windy is the first mini album by South Korean rapper, songwriter, and producer JEON SO YEON, released on July 5, 2021 through CUBE Entertainment. The album marked her first solo mini album and introduced “Windy,” an alter ego representing her free-spirited side and the emotions and experiences of her twenties. As the leader and main creative force of (G)I-DLE, SOYEON took on a major role in producing the album, allowing Windy to present a more personal side of her artistry outside the group.

The five-track Windy opens with title track “BEAM BEAM,” a pop-rock and hip-hop song inspired by the intense energy of summer and the freedom of being young. “Weather” takes a more emotional approach, while “Quit” offers a lighter and more accessible sound. “Psycho” introduces stronger beats and a darker perspective, exploring the idea of having another side to yourself, while “Is this bad b****** number?” featuring BIBI and Lee Young Ji closes the album with a confident hip-hop track that highlights the chemistry between the three artists.

Windy showcases JEON SO YEON's versatility as a solo artist, combining hip-hop, dance-pop, pop-rock, and R&B while maintaining her distinctive rap and production style. With SOYEON writing the lyrics across the album and contributing heavily to its composition and arrangement, the release offers an intimate look at her creativity and the different sides of her personality. Windy remains an important release in SOYEON's solo discography and a notable album for (G)I-DLE fans and Neverland.
