Red Velvet - Chill Kill - BAG Version

Chill Kill is the third Korean full-length album by South Korean girl group Red Velvet, released on November 13, 2023 through SM Entertainment. The album marked the group's first Korean studio album in six years, following Perfect Velvet in 2017, while continuing the group's signature contrast between their bright “Red” side and darker “Velvet” sound. Centered around the idea of tragedy and hope existing together, Chill Kill presents a more mature and cinematic chapter in Red Velvet's storytelling.

The ten-track album opens with the title track “Chill Kill,” a pop dance song built around heavy bass, string melodies, dreamy synths, and bell sounds. Its lyrics explore how an unexpected presence can completely change someone's world, while still leaving behind longing and hope. “Underwater” moves into a darker, atmospheric R&B sound with dreamy synths and layered vocal harmonies, while “Iced Coffee” takes a softer approach with emotional strings and guitar. “Bulldozer” adds a more forceful edge through powerful bass and confident vocals, creating a strong contrast with the lighter and more uplifting “Wings” and “Scenery.”

Chill Kill became an important release in Red Velvet's discography, bringing together the contrasting qualities that have defined the group's identity while presenting them through a more connected narrative. With its diverse ten-song tracklist, distinctive concept, and balance of darker and brighter sounds, the album highlights Red Velvet's versatility and their ability to move between genres and moods. Chill Kill remains a notable release for ReVeluv and an essential album in the group's discography.
