TWICE - The year of YES

The year of YES is the third special album by South Korean girl group TWICE, released on December 12, 2018 through JYP Entertainment. The project serves as a repackaged edition of the group’s sixth mini album YES or YES and introduced the new title track The Best Thing I Ever Did alongside the songs from the original release. Issued during the winter season at the end of TWICE’s highly active 2018 promotional cycle, the album reflected on the group’s successful year while continuing to strengthen their connection with ONCE through a more sentimental concept. 

The album blends K pop, dance pop and soft seasonal pop influences with warm melodies, emotional vocal delivery and polished production that showcase a gentler side of TWICE’s musical identity. While maintaining the group’s signature melodic style and bright vocal harmonies, the project also explores more reflective themes tied to memories, gratitude and emotional connection. The title song especially emphasizes softer instrumentation and nostalgic atmosphere, contrasting with the more energetic sound often associated with TWICE’s earlier releases during that era. 

The year of YES received strong commercial success upon release, topping the Gaon Album Chart in South Korea and further expanding TWICE’s growing influence internationally. Fans and critics responded positively to the project’s emotional tone and seasonal atmosphere, while the release helped close out one of TWICE’s most commercially dominant years in K pop. The album further deepened the bond between TWICE and ONCE through its heartfelt concept and year end promotions.
