V - Layover - LP

V Layover is the debut solo studio album by South Korean singer V of BTS, released on September 8, 2023 through BIGHIT MUSIC. Developed in collaboration with ADOR creative director Min Hee Jin, the album marked V’s first official solo body of work and introduced a concept centered around emotional atmosphere, visual storytelling and vintage inspired aesthetics. Issued digitally and in multiple physical versions, Layover represented a more intimate and stylistically distinct direction compared to V’s previous solo releases within BTS projects and soundtracks.

The album blends R&B, jazz pop, indie pop and soul influences into a cohesive and relaxed sonic experience that highlights V’s deep vocal tone and understated musical style. Through warm instrumentation, lo fi textures, layered harmonies and minimalist production, Layover explores themes of loneliness, reflection, longing and emotional comfort while maintaining a calm and cinematic atmosphere throughout the project. The album’s visual presentation and music videos further reinforced its nostalgic aesthetic and emotionally immersive identity, showcasing V’s artistic sensibilities beyond mainstream pop structure. 

Layover received widespread critical praise and major commercial success following its release, debuting at number two on the US Billboard 200 and topping album charts in multiple countries. Critics praised the album’s cohesive mood, refined production and V’s commitment to a softer and more personal musical direction, while ARMY strongly embraced the project’s emotional sincerity and artistic individuality. The album further solidified V’s presence as a solo artist within the global music landscape and became one of the most commercially successful Korean solo releases of 2023.
