YUQI - YUQ1 - SPECIAL Version

YUQ1 is the first solo mini album by Chinese singer and (G)I-DLE member YUQI, released on April 23, 2024 through CUBE Entertainment. The album marked the official beginning of YUQI's solo career and followed her 2021 digital single A Page. With YUQ1, YUQI takes a more personal approach to her music, showcasing her own color and creative identity outside of (G)I-DLE.

The seven-track YUQ1 opens with title track “FREAK,” an energetic pop track that combines playful production with a darker edge and explores embracing the unconventional sides of yourself. Pre-release single “Could It Be” offers a brighter contrast with its dreamy, romantic sound, while “Drink It Up” featuring pH-1 brings a more hip-hop-oriented style. “Red Rover” delivers a short, confident burst of energy, “On Clap” featuring Lexie Liu adds another distinctive pop and hip-hop collaboration, and “Everytime” featuring fellow (G)I-DLE member MINNIE provides a softer vocal contrast.

YUQ1 highlights YUQI's development as a singer-songwriter, with the artist participating in the writing and composition of songs throughout the album. The release became a major milestone in her solo career and gave Neverland a closer look at YUQI's individual musical style, combining pop, hip-hop, and R&B influences with her recognizable husky vocals. As her first solo mini album, YUQ1 remains an important release in both YUQI's discography and her career as a member of (G)I-DLE.
