HWA SA - GUILTY PLEASURE

Guilty Pleasure is HWA SA’s second single album, released on November 24, 2021 through RBW. Coming 17 months after her successful solo debut mini album María, the three-track release explores the idea of enjoying things that may be considered embarrassing or difficult to admit, using the concept to reflect on HWA SA’s own emotions and experiences. The album presents a more mature and introspective side of the MAMAMOO member while maintaining her distinctive confidence and individuality. 

The title track I’m a B, also stylized as I’m a 빛, plays with the Korean word for “light” while giving the song a bold double meaning, matching its playful yet unapologetic attitude. FOMO takes a different direction with a vintage R&B sound and an encouraging message about letting go of the fear of missing out, while Bless U closes the release on a softer note, expressing gratitude and the process of finally letting go of someone who caused pain. HWA SA participated in writing both the title track and Bless U, adding a personal touch to the album’s themes. 

Guilty Pleasure reached No. 6 on the Gaon Album Chart and recorded more than 37,000 sales in South Korea. The release also achieved a notable international chart milestone, with both I’m a B and Bless U entering the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart simultaneously, at No. 7 and No. 10 respectively.
